Letting you in on a little secret. . . . . . . .It won’t be long before the largest and most heavily stitched LHN design will be available for purchase. It’s a design that has been long in coming but now that it’s almost here I’m letting the cat out of the bag (so to speak!). Next month we are releasing a design called “The Library”. It’s big (and spans three pages)! You walk up to the door of the library, open it, and walk into a world of books. The library is old-fashioned. . . . . trimmed with bricks and ivy. The verse I wrote for the design is, “An open book is a window into the world”. You will discover the worlds of the Classics, Mysteries, Romance and Westerns. Each genre is represented by a scene within a window. It’s a book lovers delight! Renee Herman gets an award for getting the model stitched and back to me before I knew it. Just wait until you see it! (Coming the end of September). A Walk in the Park . . . . . . . . . .As many of you know, we lost our beautiful Golden Retriever, Molly, over six weeks ago. After the loss I threw myself into designing a small piece that would both help me with my grief and provide us with a visual remembrance of her. “A Walk in the Park” can be personalized for your dog or you can use the Woof-Woof lettering we provide. I can think of a number of ways you can fill in the center box but the choice is yours of course. The design is stitched in two colors but for those that like a little more color, simply add whatever you wish . . . . . . there is no shading which makes the color changes really easy. This one ships at the end of the week also. Molly went to the park twice a day for most of her life. The last two years she jumped at the chance to get her leash but she only made the walk once a day. Even up to her final week she still managed a few trips. It was one of the simple joys of my husband’s life. . . . . . . a walk in the park with his beloved Molly. Pumpkins 4-Sale . . . . . . . . . . . . .This is a preview of a new design we’ll be shipping at the end of the week. It’s a wonderful fall piece that spells the word “Pumpkins” inside the gourds. Who’s that peeking out from behind that pumpkin? We finished things a bit differently this time. I had Vonna (http://tts-finishing.blogspot.com/) finish the very wide design into a cube for me at it turned out just great. It can be set on a mantle, entry table, etc. The sky is the limit on this one! It’s time to start thinking about fall and winter stitching! Monsoons are here. . . . . . .
It’s getting dark in the house now. . . . . . . just like it does every day about this time. Not good for stitching. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . but they are beautiful, aren’t they? Lavender’s Blue
This is due out at the same time we release “Mayflower Landing” which is close to the end of the month. Until then. . . . . . . . . . Mayflower Landing . . . . . . . . . .It’s time to reveal a snip of a new pattern, not yet released. “Mayflower Landing” is an all-time favorite design of mine. The subject material is near and dear to me as it plays into the amateur genealogist in me. I have a personal connection to the Mayflower in my own family history. The design is a large one and contains an original verse written by me. Watch the LHN web site in a week or so to see the full view of the design. Pretty Things. . . . . . . . .
Our days are a little darker . . . . . . . . .Our Molly girl went to sleep Saturday night. Our house is so lonely without her. She never knew what a huge fan club she had and how so many of you had come to care for her through this blog. She was born February 15, 1998 and came to us in April the same year. Molly was loving and faithful . . . . . . . . such a wonderful companion. Just me and my fuzzy gal. . . .Molly isn’t doing the greatest these days. She seems to be telling us that her sands of time are running low. She went to the vet today and meds were added as well as new food. It’s the best we can do right now. She posed so beautifully this morning for pictures . . . . . . . she even let me shoot a movie of her. Molly has always been a bit camera shy. . . . . . .I guess she never understood all the flashing and noises.
Thank you to all my friends who have been such loyal Molly fans. It has helped us both along the way. Diane Model Chaos. . . . . . . .I’m going through a period of rearranging closets, drawers, books, etc. and dove into the model “issue”. This is only a partial view of what I dealt with this morning as I began the task of getting all of this into the spare room closet. Technically it’s the grandkids room where we have a futon for sleep-overs, tv, toys and Pixar movie posters (for me, not them!). However today it became the keeper for LHN models. The work was balanced out by the joy at seeing many of them again since some of them had been in totes for a few years. Going back I saw some of my favorites: The Old West and Captain’s Inn Alphabet Rhyme and Two Red Houses It was like visiting old friends! Now I’m off to get some stitching done. Diane A new look for the blog . . . . . . . . . . .
Diane Love One Another . . . . . . . . . . . . .This is a snippet of the second new release I mentioned in an earlier entry. The design is scheduled to be released at the same time “Two Roosters” comes out. Ron got all of the boxes to UPS on Friday so they are on their way. I want to make one more mention of the World Vision program from a personal perspective. . . . . . Ron and I support two children in Zambia. We get periodic updates and letters from the children and their families, letting us know how they are doing, what they are learning, and how they and their family are doing health-wise. It isn’t the type of organization that takes the money and then you never hear from them again. Your sponsorship helps real people. If you have ever thought about sponsoring a child or family with any organization, now is the time to do it. So many children have lost their sponsors due to the economic crisis in the world. Winter Wonderland. . . . . . . .Have you seen the new thread pack design by my daughter Nikki at Country Cottage Needleworks? You can get the details at www.countrycottageneedleworks.com. It's adorable! Great job Nikki. . . . . . . . mom loves it!
New Designs Coming Soon . . . . . . . . .I'm not sure excactly when we are shipping . . . . . .maybe Friday, maybe Monday. We'll have two new packets. The first, "Two Roosters" contains patterns for two matching roosters. . . . . .one white (as you can see) and one black. I have a tall white ornamental rooster in my house that became the inspiration for the designs. My grandson was here at our house the day I was designing and kept telling me I was getting it all wrong (he's 4) so we looked at some photos. In the end he was satisfied with the outcome.
The second design is called "Love One Another".
My inspiration for that design is the humanitarian work that is being done by a wonderful organization called World Vision. I know many of you know World Vision personally and probably sponsor children in the program. This pattern will help World Vision continue to do many wonderful things for our neighbors around the world.
Molly Girl. . . . . . . . .Molly is still enjoying people and bird watching. The mornings are cool enough that the doors can be open and she can lay in her favorite spot to bark at everyone who steps on her sidewalk. All of the neighbors know her so they just tell her 'good morning' and keep walking. She's slowing down a bit but still has enough energy to get to the park for her morning stroll.
And it really wasn't that hot yesterday. The sun must have hit the back side of the thermometer! It's H-O-T in Tucson. . . . . . .The only thing a person can do these days is stay indoors or sit close to water. It's HOT. As you can see by the thermometer, it's well over 100 degrees and it's 2:15 in the afternoon. I just took a break from stitching to get a glass of water and the temperature caught my attention! It's getting closer to to the highest temps we get which is around 112. Back to stitching. . . . . . . . . (indoors!)
Remembering those who served . . . . . . .I'm taking time this Memorial weekend to remember those who served our country. Most came home to their families but many did not. My father was in the Navy and spent most of his days upon the Harry E. Hubbard (photo). When he finished his second go-round with the Navy he came home and married mom as fast as he could! Right mom?
Stitcher Finishes Wanted. . . . . . . .If you are an "over one" stitcher or stitch your LHN designs on 40 count "over two", I'd love to see your finished pieces. I am planning to randomly select images for my web site to be featured on a new stitcher finishes page. The design must be an LHN project and be completely finished (framed, in a pillow, etc) to be considered. Send your photos or web site links to littlehouseneedleworks@msn.com.
