Molly Girl. . . . . . . . .

Molly is still enjoying people and bird watching.  The mornings are cool enough that the doors can be open and she can lay in her favorite spot to bark at everyone who steps on her sidewalk.  All of the neighbors know her so they just tell her 'good morning' and keep walking.  She's slowing down a bit but still has enough energy to get to the park for her morning stroll.

And it really wasn't that hot yesterday.  The sun must have hit the back side of the thermometer!

It's H-O-T in Tucson. . . . . . .

The only thing a person can do these days is stay indoors or sit close to water.  It's HOT.  As you can see by the thermometer, it's well over 100 degrees and it's 2:15 in the afternoon.  I just took a break from stitching to get a glass of water and the temperature caught my attention!  It's getting closer to to the highest temps we get which is around 112.  Back to stitching. . . . . . . . . (indoors!)

Remembering those who served . . . . . . .

I'm taking time this Memorial weekend to remember those who served our country.  Most came home to their families but many did not.  My father was in the Navy and spent most of his days upon the Harry E. Hubbard (photo).  When he finished his second go-round with the Navy he came home and married mom as fast as he could!  Right mom?

Fresh Watermelon . . . . . . . . . .

Don't you love the ants?  No?  Well if you don't just leave them off but they made me chuckle.  I also love the little bird from JABCO.
I thought this would make a perfect stitch for the hot summer months ahead.

Colonial Women. . . . . . . . . .

Yes, there were strong and courageous women behind those prominent colonial period men!  I designed Colonial Women because I love sampler-ish Americana designs.  Paying tribute to these remarkable women is the bonus.  The details for this design can be seen on the LHN web site.

Stitcher Finishes Wanted. . . . . . . .

If you are an "over one" stitcher or stitch your LHN designs on 40 count "over two", I'd love to see your finished pieces.  I am planning to randomly select images for my web site to be featured on a new stitcher finishes page.  The design must be an LHN project and be completely finished (framed, in a pillow, etc) to be considered.  Send your photos or web site links to littlehouseneedleworks@msn.com.

A step back in time . . . . . . . . . .

I know this isn't needlework related but everyone needs a break now and then.  Ron and I took the family out to Old Tucson Studios for a day of fun.  As you can see from the photo, I had nothing but fun!  We rode the stagecoach and a train and watched gunfights and beautiful girls doing the can-can.  Old Tucson Studios is the home to the greats Gunsmoke, High Chaperral, Young Guns and many a John Wayne movie.  What do you think of these cowboys??

This photo is great.  It's both kids with our three grandkids.

And last but not least, if I were getting married today or even renewing my vows, this is where I'd want to do it.  This is a newly built set at the studio but it is a fully operational church.  You can see the windows behind us opening onto the mountains.  It's spectacular.

I'll be back to work tomorrow!
